Transitions:  Barbara Morrill Pursues Dream & LaVon Griffieon named Interim Executive Director

In March, Barbara Morrill resigned her position as Office Manager to spend more time with her family and pursue new opportunities.  Barbara is planning to use her experience to connect Senior Citizens with opportunities and resources in their communities.  We appreciate Barbara’s dedication and hard work, and will miss her presence in the office.  We want to thank Barbara for her service, and wish her well in all her endeavors.

At the May 3, 2008 1000 Friends of Iowa Board meeting, LaVon Griffieon was appointed Interim Executive Director.  LaVon’s knowledge of and active involvement with the operational aspects of 1000 Friends of Iowa contributed to this decision.  We are pleased LaVon accepted the appointment, and appreciate her willingness to step in and fill this need.

Volunteer Spotlight: Lorraine Asberry

We would like to take a moment and thank Lorraine Asberry for volunteering her time.  Lorraine has assisted with several office tasks including preparing mailings, placing labels on our Buy Local posters, and she even deep cleaned our kitchen area!  Thank you so much Lorraine!
