9:15 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.   Keynote – Dan Burden, Urban Designer/Founder of Walkable Communities, Inc., “Building Healthy, Sustainable Communities through Walkability” (Tower Room)

10:30 a.m. – 10:40 a.m.   Break

10:40 a.m. – 11:25 a.m.   Breakout sessions I: Joe Pietruszynski,  Hubbell Realty, “Sustainable Community Design” (Des Moines East Room, 1st Floor) Susan Roberts, JD, MS, RD, "Food Systems in Sustainable Planning and Policy: The Iowa Food Policy Council" (Des Moines West Room, 1st Floor) and Kamyar Enshayan, Cedar Falls City Council, and Marty Ryan, Planner, City of Cedar Falls present "City Planning and Floods of the Future" (Tower Room, 11th Floor)

11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.   Breakout  sessions  II: David Doyle - EPA Region 7, Bruce Ray - HUD office, Des Moines and Cindy Terwilliger - Federal Transit Administration Office, Kansas City, “Federal Partnerships and Their Impact on Sustainable Community Planning” (Tower Room, 11th Floor) Craig Malin – City Planner, Davenport, "Resilience on the River: Davenport’s Approach to Sustainability” (Des Moines East Room, 1st Floor) and David Raver, Lighting Studio Director, RDG Planning & Design, “Iowa At Night – Lighting for a Sustainable Community’s Future” (Des Moines West Room, 1st Floor)

12:15 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.   Lunch/Speaker: Omar Smadi, ISU Institute for Transportation, “The Actual Cost of Food Systems on Roadway Infrastructure” (Tower Room, 11th Floor)       
           
1:15 p.m.– 3:15 p.m.   Bus tour and walkability audit (The bus tour will visit sustainable planning in existence in the Des Moines metro area and potential areas for such planning.)  The walkability audit will be a walking tour of the 6th Avenue Corridor and will be led by Dan Burden. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes!

3:30 p.m.  – 4:15 p.m.   Aaron Todd, Community Planning Specialist, Rebuild Iowa Office, and Dan Burden, "Iowa Smart Planning: Reflections on Today and Ideas for the Future"(Tower Room, 11th Floor)

4:15 – 4:30 p.m.   Closing remarks – Mayor Frank Cownie(Tower Room, 11th Floor)
