Wednesday, 26 May 2010
There is an upcoming opportunity for 1000 Friends of Iowa members to get involved with the Iowa's Water and Land Legacy (IWILL) campaign. Volunteers are needed to raise awareness and help get out the vote in support of the Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund.

The Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund amendment is a historical opportunity for Iowans to establish a permanent, and constitutionally protected, funding source for conserving and enhancing water quality and natural habitat throughout the state.  The trust fund will provide a consistent and accountable revenue source to improve water quality and natural areas in Iowa, aide conservation of agricultural soils, and restore wetlands to protect against future flooding. This initiative is the largest clean water/conservation initiative in the country this year and promises great benefits for lake restoration/preservation, conservation, and clean water.

As the Nov 2 election date approaches, the coalition will need support from coalition member organizations to help raise awareness, and join in the effort to get out the vote!

Coalition staff are preparing volunteer boot camps across the state to prepare volunteers for activities leading up to election day. IWILL needs YOUR help.  If you are interested and available to volunteer on behalf of the campaign, please contact Rosalyn Lehman, campaign field director, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or 515.202.7720.
